This is a classic. I had forgotten about this until tonight when I found myself humming it for no good reason... Just thought I'd share...
Hey all! I know I neglect this blog far too much, so what do I do?
Start another one!
So here's the deal. I've started another blog here on Vox devoted to everyone's favorite post-Chinese take-out tradition, the fortune cookie! I'll be posting all of the interesting, funny and sometimes questionable fortunes I find in the cookie I've eaten after gorging on waaaaay too much Gim's.
You can check it out at http://fortunecookies.vox.com . Also, please message me with your own fortunes, as one can only consume so much BBQ pork fried rice and egg foo young for the sake of a blog...
So check out the new blog, and good fortune to you!
The owner/founder of the awesome Falafel's Drive-In in San Jose, CA has passed away.
About a year and a half ago, my girlfriend and I had just come from the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum and Park in San Jose, checking it out, when we started to feel a little hungry. Driving down Santana Row and around the local mall turned up only food we didn't feel like having, so we kept driving. We came upon this little shack/greasy-spoon looking place that nevertheless had quite a few people having lunch. We decided to try it, knowing that when you're out-of-town, always try to find a place that looks busy, where the locals go.
Some of the Yelp reviews mention the (sometimes) rude, sarcastic guys behind the counter. Can't say that I've ever experienced that personally. When I went, I actually asked what a falafel was. They gave my girlfriend and I a free sample (!) and we were hooked.
That was the only time I've been there, as the place is a good 40 miles away from where we live. You can bet, though, that if we're ever in the area again, we'll definitely be returning.
I'm sad to hear of the owner's passing, and I hope that the place stays the same for a long time to come...
